Live from Music Row Wednesday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. – host Leahy welcomed the original all-star panelist Crom Carmichael to the studio for another edition of Crom’s Crommentary where he addresses the continuation of Joe Biden’s failed foreign policy.
CARMICHAEL CONTINUED…
I’ve been watching kind of the politics of foreign policy. And Bob Gates wrote a book and said that the only people he’s ever dealt with in Washington have been there a long time. There’s only one person who is wrong every single time and that was Joe Biden.
Joe Biden was asked about that by George Stephanopoulos during the campaign, and he thought about it and said, well, I stick by that. He still is always wrong on every single foreign policy decision. Now, Tom Cotton pointed out that in Russia, what Biden has done so far in less than a year is that he has renegotiated the nuclear deal with no strings attached, much to brush his favor and our disfavor.
He’s allowed for the Nord Stream pipeline. He’s told the Ukraine president to be quiet over that one issue. Cyberattacks that have come from Russia have not been, and this is all that Tom Cotton said, not been responded to. And we recently returned a notorious hacker to Russia.
And now we have Saudi Arabia begging us for military equipment because the Sudanese are raining down missiles and drone attacks. And we’re talking dozens a month on Saudi Arabia. Imagine what we would feel like if a foreign country is sending missiles into the U.S. and drone attacks and killing people and blowing up buildings.
We’d be pretty upset. And the Biden administration does not seem to be that interested in helping Saudi Arabia repel those attacks. Russia is positioning troops on the Ukraine border, and we know that is 175,000 troops.
And you have members of both parties now who are saying that the United States needs to be ready to defend Ukraine. Tucker Carlson pointed out last night that it would be a fascinating thing to see Democrats claiming that Russians crossing the Ukrainian border is a bad thing when we have tens of thousands of people crossing our own border, and they call it a good thing.
But I go around the world and I look at Iran, I look at Russia, and I look at China. I now add Saudi Arabia in the Middle East. And Biden’s foreign policies could end up creating many more problems than his terrible domestic policies.
And so as we get into the midterms, it’s my great hope that a lot of what the discussion will be in the midterms, in addition to the four major domestic topics, which are in no particular order: crime, education, inflation, and immigration.
Those are the four topics that are top of mind among Republicans and Independents. Now we have to add to that, foreign policy. And I’m not sure there’s a lot that can be done at the congressional level on foreign policy other than to not try to get us into a war with Russia over Ukraine.
